Tweak for 14.1" screen (9549-71U)

Geoffrey,

I don't know if this is relevant to your question (and suspect 2 MB VRAM
might be a constraint), but...

To get the TP770X/Z-specific XFree86 server working well with my 14.1"
1024x768 screen, I had to
edit the XF86Config file. It would come up, but looked overstressed,
suffering bad jitters and ghosts.

The change that fixed it was editing the Modeline...

From: "1280x1024" 110 . . . To: "1280x1024" 100 . . . (the vsync/hsync
values weren't changed)

Both the 13.7" and 14.1" screens support virtual displays at 1280x1024
resolution, but the 1024x768
14.1" LCD display has far fewer pixels (somewhat more than half as many), so
the chip doesn't have
to work as hard. Therefore, the dot-clock runs 9% slower for this 14.1"
screen than the big 13.7" one.

Just in case anyone else has the 14.1" 1024x768 LCD....

BTW, an obscure XFree86 SVGA man-page said that 24-bit color isn't supported
in the SVGA X-server.
