If you have problems getting something to work then
adding the output of the program you are using would
help others to help you.

Things like kernel version, the software version can
often be an indicator, often resulting in a "get version
x.x.xx it works!".

Also with sound/pcmcia/kernel problems the messages
listed in "/var/log/messages" which are related to the
problem are invaluable, also try "dmesg" to show
the kernel messages since the last boot, the message
buffer is a ring buffer so if your machine has been up
a long time then you may not see all of the messages.
