Bob,

Thanks for the response.   I have no indication that anything is wrong with the 3COM card.  My ftp file transfer speeds are quite decent.  However, as a test I removed the 3COM card and tried the scsi stuff again - no change.  Thought for awhile that I had a faulty scsi interace on one of the drives but I have tried them individually and still get the timeout on large file copies.

I got a feeling that there is a timeout parameter somewhere that is set too small for the CardBus SCSI controller response speed and I just need to find that and change it.
