Michael:

To see XF86-SVGA initialization (and error) messages, one can capture
its output (I have /data/G as the mount-point for a FAT drive that is
shared with another OS):

     X > /data/G/X.txt  2>&1

This runs the X-server. Ctrl-Alt-Backspace kills the server - its output
is in G:\X.txt.

Also, if you have the XF86Setup program, it might better help configure X.
