You're right that it is a Mwave APC modem.

Does anyone know if IBM are going to develop and subsequently release a
Linux driver for this modem? It does strick me as odd that they are now
releasing details on how to install Redhat 6.1 on a Thinkpad 600E and yet
they haven't subsequently relsesed the necessary chipset data to develop a
driver for the modem.
