Tino,

AFAIK (at least with 3.3.x) the acceleration option is only on by
default if you have one of the following chipsets:
    TGUI9440AGi, CYBER9320, CYBER9388, CYBER9397, CYBER939A,
    CYBER9520, CYBER9525, IMAGE985, BLADE3D

Don't consider this list to be by any means complete, "use the source
Luke!".
Several of the above (most actually) also force the acceleration to be
turned off when using 24bpp.

You can try explicitly turning the acceleration on by adding the
accel option to your driver section. YMMV.
