So, now that we are on the toppic, I like to get one other thing of my chest,
if permitted; I have had several rounds along the IBM resellers/support
organistations/hirarchy on this subject and was amazed at the disbelieve I
encounterd regarding installing Linux on a thinkpad MYSELF.
I think there is a deffinite culture clash going on here: the statement I
read the other day on linuxtoday covers this pretty good: In the OpenSource
culture one is an user and in the proprierity world one is a customer.
Customers pay for stuff and are apperantly not supposed to do/think things
themselves; what an odd lack of insight in what customer sattisfaction is all
about....especially in the Linux world. It's really not about getting things
for free, but about choice. I buy a laptop for $5500 where I want to run sw
on that gives me choice and freedom of usage. Can IBM give me user
sattisfaction?
