[ltp] sound card

Hi

I have a Thinkpad i14xx (how do I find exact model no?). It has an ESS
Solo-1 AD sound card. After installing RH6.1, with kern 2.2.12-20, (which
detected the sound card as a Plug 'n' Pray), I can only get about 25%
volume, if I turn it up any more I get a high pitched squeal. Any ideas.
