Reinaldo,

it's not quite clear to me what you mean by "I've got AFS client installed
in my Linux TP, but that's only for its local filesystem.". What's the
local filesystem? Do you have dual boot on your TP and an AFS client
installed on the (I assume) WinNT installation?

Anyway, your local AFS admin should be able to provide you with a (native)
AFS client for Linux that you could install in the Linux filesystem. This
is no big deal, the steps are discribed in the AFS Installation Guide which
is available from

   http://www.transarc.com/Library/documentation/afs/3.5/unix/install/install.htm

   (see "Installing Additional Client Machines")

The "problem" that AFS is licensed SW should be no issue for you as all the
SW & licenses (also for Linux) should already be there at Watson Research
Center. Your site AFS admin might tell you details.

HTH,
Markus

Subject: [ltp] AFS access

Folks,

I would be very grateful if anyone could help me with the following:
How can I mount an AFS filesystem onto my Linux machine?
I've got AFS client installed in my Linux TP, but that's only for its
local filesystem.
I've been able to setup SAMBA to access a DFS filesystem siting on the
company's network, and I've tried similar smbmount commands to mount the
afs directories without success.
thanks a lot for any help.
