[ltp] network not joined

Hi,
I'm running RedHat 6.1 on a 770Z with a Linksys PCMCIA card. I've followed
the PCMCIA HOWTO and the detailed instructions at
http://panopticon.csustan.edu/thood/tp600lnx.htm. According to ifconfig
eth0, it looks like everything is set up OK:
ip:192.168.33.7 bcast:192.168.33.255 mask:255.255.255.0

netstat -r shows that the default gateway is set to 192.168.33.1 (which is
another RedHat 6.1 desktop system that is working fine)

I've got a 4 port network hub. The light for this connection doesn't light
up on Linux, but it works fine under NT (I'm using the EtherJet Card Bus
PCMCIA card on NT).

I've rebuilt the kernel (2.2.12) and pcmcia (3.0.14). I can't build
cardinfo, because I can't find the xforms library on the RedHat CDs and I
can't ftp until I get the network working.

I can ping 192.168.33.7, but anything else gets a "Destination Host
Unreachable" error. Somewhere I read that this indicates a network
configuration error, but I don't know what else to check. The last lines of
dmesg say
eth0: NE2000 Compatible: io 0x300, irq 3

Any clues would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Leila
