[ltp] 600X Lucent modem... interesting

BTW, I just upgraded the BIOS on my 600X. The new version is ITET44WW.
The old version was ITET40WW. What were the changes?

Now, I was dorking around with the PS2 command, and I found that the
"IMODEM" options lets you enable the ISARESource for the modem, to
enable support for DOS, Windows 3.1, and OS/2. These setting were the
same as those normally used for serial ports, to the point that I
could specify a COM port number (the ADD parameter). And when I boot
Linux after enabling the ISARESource, the kernel even detects a serial
port.

ttyS01 at 0x02f8 (irq = 3) is a 16550A

But, minicom can't do anything with this port. It sees no AT-ish
interface. Any ideas?

Now, I noticed that the 240 recently got modem support for "Legacy
OS"es. Maybe there's hope we'll get this for the 600X? The binary
modem drivers are okay, but they constrain my kernel choices, don't
work in all cases, and have crashed my machine. So getting this modem
working without special binary drivers would be very nice.
