Hi,

I got it to work using kernel 2.2.14, the irda patch to kernel 2.2.14,
irda-utils v0.9.9, pilot-link v0.9.4 and PalmOS v3.3. In other words,
the latest versions of everything.

here's my /dev's
>ls -l ir* pilot ttyS0 ttyS1
crw-rw-rw- 1 root root 161, 0 Jan 26 00:07 ircomm0
crw-rw-rw- 1 root root 161, 1 Jan 30 02:14 ircomm1
crw-r--r-- 1 root root 161, 16 Jan 26 00:08 irlpt0
crw-r--r-- 1 root root 161, 17 Jan 26 00:08 irlpt1
lrwxrwxrwx   1 root     root            7 Jan 26 14:25 pilot -> ircomm1
crw-rw-rw- 1 root tty 4, 64 Jan 26 14:00 ttyS0
crw-rw-rw- 1 root tty 4, 65 Jan 15 20:58 ttyS1

in /etc/conf.modules I have:
# IR
alias tty-ldisc-11 irtty
alias char-major-161 ircomm-tty

My thinkpad is set to have the IR port on ttyS0.

to start IR, I do:
>irattach /dev/ttyS0

pilot-xfer then works :-)

iramanger is not need with the new version of irattach.

It took a while to get everything installed, but it's now working. I
have a longer note if anybody is interested.
