My setup is:

Linux SuSE-6.3 (kernel vanilla 2.2.13, glibc-2.1.2), pilot-link-0.9.4,
PalmOS v3.0.3 9 (I think), irda-utils-0.9.8.

But I had to move serial port to COM2 (/dev/ttyS1) and IR port
to COM1 (/dev/ttyS0).

Same here - but irlpt should matter only when Thinkpad tries
to print via IR port, right? I.e. *not* when the Palm3 is
trying to print...?

Excuse me? The above two lines contradict each other, as you're
symlink'ing the "pilot" device to the second port (ttyS1)...

In any case, after setting IR port on COM1, all the standard
steps worked OK. I.e. "pilot -> ircomm0", "irattach /dev/ttyS0"
etc. "pilot-xfer -s ............." works fine (if a touch too
slow).

Matches my setup.

(:-) Possibly, but it doesn't bother me to have it running.

I'd like to have the mystery of ircomm1 vs. ircomm0 revealed.
