I don't believe Xconfigurator in this case.  As George said, you do need
the link to SVGA server, but select unlisted card and enter VRAM (4MB)
and clockchip (none).  The change in console video will setup the card
correctly.

You should be good then.  I've reconfigured 8-9 times with
Xconfigurator, with no problems once lilo.conf was fixed.
