[ltp] Any reason for a DOS/Windoze partition?

Yes, when I was using tp240, I had made hibernation partition on my tp using
phdisk.exe program
from ibm web site. What you should note is this partition is made from last
part of your hard disk.
That is, if your hdd had 100 cylinder than, phdisk.exe makes hibernation
partition from 100 to 90.
Yes, actual value may vary and should very :-) But the principle does not
vary. And in tp240, you can
change your tp's setting through bios program so you don't need any kind of
fat partition; simply
use linux only. I did this with tp240 and current tp570e, though in tp570e,
suspend and hibernation
needs some trick.

PS)
You will fail with the hibernation disk made directly from ibm site because
this needs fat partition
and previous hibernation file. I made my own disk with ordinary dos boot
disk and
copy phdisk.exe and another file for image when you perform hibernation. I
cannot remember the exact
name of that file but you will find in the original-ibm-made hibernation
util diskette.

PS2)
Sorry for my poor english.

## Jason,
##
## When I finally realized I never booted ms-windows, I saved myself
## a gigabyte of disc space and made a simple ms-dos partition. It
## has ms-dos, the thinkpad configuration program PS2, and the
## hibernation file. The hibernation file is by far the biggest
## thing there.
##
## I believe you can have a partition which is solely for
## hibernation: there is a partition-type number assigned for IBM
## Hibernation File. I've not tried this though.
##
## Michael.
##
## (btw, I have a tp600E, although I suspect the principles are the
## same for your tp240)
