[ltp] Turning a TP into a qiet X-station

I have the setup almost working. All that is remaining is to burn a
bootbable CD-ROM. Currently I load the ramdisk (which will then become
the '/') from the real hard disk. Does anybody know whether there is a
way to explicitly spin down the disk in a ThinkPad? Even though the disk
is never accessed anymore while on AC power it stays up and only goes
down when I go on battery for a minute or so. Once down, it stays down
forever even if I go back to AC.

Overall, I like the setup al lot. The fan goes on once in a while but
compared to the disk this is not a problem at all. Once I'm done with
hardening and debugging the setup I plan to write some sort of a
mini-HOWTO or at least put some updates material on my web site at:
