I'm having trouble getting IR to work reliably on a TP600. My aim is to
communicate with my Palm Pilot.

Environment:
	Red Hat 6.2, kernel  2.2.16
	irda-utils-0.9.10

Kernel settings:
	CONFIG_IRDA=m
	CONFIG_IRLAN=m
	CONFIG_IRCOMM=m
	# CONFIG_IRDA_ULTRA is not set
	CONFIG_IRDA_OPTIONS=y
	# CONFIG_IRDA_CACHE_LAST_LSAP is not set
	# CONFIG_IRDA_FAST_RR is not set
	CONFIG_IRDA_DEBUG=y
	# CONFIG_IRDA_COMPRESSION is not set
	# SIR device drivers
	CONFIG_IRTTY_SIR=m
	CONFIG_IRPORT_SIR=m
	# FIR device drivers
	CONFIG_NSC_FIR=m
	# CONFIG_WINBOND_FIR is not set
	# CONFIG_TOSHIBA_FIR is not set

Devices:
	/dev/ttyS0:	wired serial port
	/dev/ttyS1:	IR serial port

	ls -l /dev/ttyS1 /dev/ir*
	crw-------    1 bergman  tty      161,   0 Jun  9 18:01 /dev/ircomm-tty0
	crw-r--r--    1 bergman  tty      161,   1 Jun 19 00:50 /dev/ircomm-tty1
	crw-------    1 bergman  root      60,   0 May 18 19:41 /dev/irtty_comm0
	crw-------    1 bergman  tty       60,   1 May 18 19:42 /dev/irtty_comm1
	crw-rw-rw-    1 root     tty        4,  65 Apr 28 13:30 /dev/ttyS1

Modules:
	/etc/modules-conf entries:
	# IrDA
	alias char-major-161 ircomm-tty
	alias char-major-60 ircomm-tty
	alias tty-ldisc-11 irtty

I've gotten the communication to work sporadically. The kernel modules load
without error, and I've gotten transfers to work with the pilot. This confirms
that the individual parts work and that the port is enabled.

The problem is that the port stops functioning after I suspend the laptop. I
haven't found a consistent, repeatable set of commands to re-enable the IR
port, including combinations of suspending or rebooting. Any suggestions?
