ALSA doesnot yet handle the suspend-&-resume problem.  However,
1) this is on the developers' TODO list (at low priority);
2) based on Till Straumann's work, I have written most of
the code for the ALSA driver to restore the sound registers
after a suspend and resume.  Unfortunately I haven't yet 
worked the bugs out of it.
