James - after many months, I am back online, reading through the 800 new 
emails I had from the various mailing lists. (whew!)

I noticed that you mentioned PLIP.

Have you had any success using this between
a) Linux - linux machines
b) linux - w95 / dos machines?

If so, can you let me know, I was interested in seeing if I could get this 
to work under linux - linux or linux - w95 machines.
