[ltp] Problem updating to Mandrake 7.2

Just as the people upgrading to Red Hat 7.0 have noted, there is a problem
using XFree86, version 4.0 with some laptop displays. Unfortunately, Mandrake
7.2 also installs XF86 4.0 by default.

My laptop is an old TP 760EL with a 12.1" TFT 800x600 display. This identifies
as an "IBM 9514-B TFT Panel" in the XF86Config file. It worked fine with
XFree86 3.3, but 4.0 fails. After upgrading to Mandrake 7.2, I had to
downgrade XF86 back to 3.3.6, and even had to link /usr/X11R6/bin/X ->
XF86_SVGA, after doing a setuid on the latter (even though this opens a
security hole). Now it works fine, again, though I wish this hadn't been
necessary.

Has anyone had any success with XFree86 4.0 on a TP 760EL?
