It has always supported the 770 AFAIK. I used one of the early releases
on my 770Z without problems.

    * Does this driver support older Mwave chipsets in other IBM
    Thinkpads or ISA Mwave modems?

    - No, it *only* supports the 3780i Mwave chipsets in the 600, 600E,
    and 770x Thinkpad models.

Apparently "770x" means "any 770-series", such as the 770, 770E, 770ED,
770X, or 770Z.

Look for the MWave entry in /proc/pci. If it says 3780I, then the
driver probably supports your system. My 770Z says this:

  Bus 0, device 5, function 0:
Multimedia controller: IBM 3780IDSP [MWave] (rev 0).
      IRQ 11.
      Master Capable. Latency=16. Min Gnt=2.Max Lat=12.
      Non-prefetchable 32 bit memory at 0x50101000 [0x501013ff].

I'm guessing the 760ED does not have a 3780I.
