[ltp] Freezes SuSE 7.1/7.2 and TP T 21

I get this problem on my T21 quite often.  Its running almost stock standard
Mandrake 8.0.  And, no, crtl-alt-f1 doesn't work and nor does
ctrl-alt-backspace.  I can ssh into the machine though, and kill processes
until it responds again, but I haven't worked out which process causes this.

Does flipping to the console with ctrl-alt-f1 and back again help?
