You have Redhat (or similar, like Mandrake etc) then you can at a command 
line issue "ifup eth0" and it will configure. More recent distros deal with 
the problem of PC cards being set up after networking, but sometimes things 
get fouled up, and in older distros they always have this problem. You COULD 
just put that command in the /etc/rc.d/rc.local file. That may suite your 
needs fine, though it is a bit of a "hack".
