Perhaps one of the other IrDA modules was still loaded
when you tried to load nsc-ircc.  I.e., irtty or irport
or something.

I must say I haven't figured out how all that stuff works.
I tried to read the IR-HOWTO last night but it was too
confusing after having a couple glasses of wine with
dinner.   ;)
