The latest releave (20010112) of the Mwave/ACP modem driver
http://oss.software.ibm.com/developer/opensource/linux/projects/mwave/
works worse for me than the old one. The old one (20001212)
allowed me to connect at 36 kbps, about the same as my Xircom
PCMCIA modem. (We have an old telephone exchange where I am.)
The new one seems to connect at only 4800 bps, judging from the
ppp throughput stats.

It would be useful if the mwavem program were to report
the connection speed after 'CONNECT' when the W2 command
has been given. Is there perhaps some other modem init
I need to do with this new driver?

Thomas
