It is a commonly known problem with the Thinkpad T/X series.
You should ues an updated xfree driver: the one provided in the distribution
is not up to date for the S3 Savage video card.

Check theses pages; you will find the solution:

Hi,

has anyone successfully installed RH 7.1 from scratch?
After successful (?) installation()X-Configuration checked
on my TP X20 RH fails to start X with 'Failed to load
module "pcidata" (module does not exist)'.

Any hints?

Regards,
