[ltp] TP 600e Sound Problem.

Hi,

because I also recently fiddled with these issues (also on a tp600e), I
decided to contribute a little bit of my wisdom. :] As many other people
I got OSS as well as ALSA sound working. Because I had problems with ALSA
at first I even patched the 2.4 kernel driver (which now has (a)pm support
but no support for the cs4239 (or is it a cs4237b?)) with Till's patch
(many thanks to Till for his cool tp-tools, by the way!).

The reason why I finally sticked with ALSA were its apm and init scripts.
They save the mixer settings nicely, and (very important) they kill -STOP
all the sound-using apps if you want to suspend the computer. I had to
fix these as well (at least the Debian ones have some flaws), but now I am
able to suspend the tp with xmms running. Without stopping the sound
apps both drivers hang in a loop repeating the last sound buffer.

The usual advice: look at Thomas Hood's page (many thanks to him as
well!). Perhaps I will gather my changes and post them here for a wider
discussion.

ciao
michael
