[ltp] TP770ED, Mdk 8.0 and kernel configuration, mouse

Installed Mandrake 8.0 (painfully without the mouse) on TP770ED.
To what should I pay attention in the kernel compilation configuration for 
enabling the mouse?

Is there an optimal kernel 2.4.3 (or 2.4.4) configuration file (or 
directives) to be used for the compilation of the kernel? 
IBM: any support/help in this sense?
