Well, just for fun I tried it out last night.
Here's what I get:
I have a cresent moon LED that lights up when the Thinkpad goes
into suspend.
Normally it also lights up while it's processing the Hibernate
call.

all it does is flash 2x normal speed and sits there for some time
(5 minutes) and then powers off.
There is no recovery.
I have to unplug the notebook and pull all the batteries before it
will turn on again.
