Hello, I'm a developer with Lm_sensors. I'm curious what the status
is for Thinkpad users using our software? We've received some
horrible stories of corrupted firmware after installing I2C/Lm_sensors
software, but no technical details.

I've contacted IBM regarding this issue offering our assistance in
solving this problem. My best guess at this point is that the eeprom
on the I2C bus acts unfavorably to our 'probes'. Or, it's possible
that the eeprom is at an address which overlaps in addressing space
with other device drivers which may be installed (and then sends
incorrect commands to the eeprom which cause it to corrupt its self).

Anyways, I was hoping to gather a little more technical info on the
issue in the hopes that we can provide a safe installation for
Thinkpad users.

Thanks!

Phil
