In the past when I have had solaris X86 installed, i have aways compiled
and installed XFree86, and used that insted of the default BrokenWindows
Xserver, Ok it doesn't have display postscript But I will live.

PCMCIA is tricky never got that to work with Solaris 2, I used ppp, out of
the serial port until I gave up and just used linux insted. The VMware
solution seems pretty good, and probably the only change you have to get a
ethernet networked solaris x86 on a laptop.

I believe you canget solaris to use some linux drivers these days, so
perhaps things are possible, however either way it wwill be hassle.
