Not quite sure what do you mean by default location. What I did was go in
win98 and from Printer/settings/LPT1/Resources I changed the E/A address
from the initial 03BC-03BF to the other options like 0378-037F and so on.
After reboot in win98 the address was changed and it still prints meaning
parallel port is ok in principle.

It refuses in linux ,however, as I explained in my last posting.
