 ...when necessary, I would add. I had my tp600e stolen last
week, and I now have a T21 replacement. I am running a stock
kernel (2.4.2 from redhat 7.1), and the machine mostly
suspends/resumes OK.  That's a first: I've never had a thinkpad
which would suspend/resume at all with a stock kernel.

Has anyone running rh7.1 found a need to change the APM kernel
settings?

I have the standard stack of other minor problems: 3com network
card not surviving a suspend (workaround: 'rmmod 3c59x; ifconfig
eth0 up' after resume); same for sound sometimes (also manually
fixed by unloading modules); sometimes won't suspend; sometimes
won't resume; can't do external and internal displays
simultaneously (is the 1400x1050 resolution the problem?);
occasional mouse focus problem (emacs grabs the focus with a
simple focus-follows-mouse twm setup).

Don't get me wrong: redhat 7.1 on this T21 (2647-5BU) is the
easiest, simplest linux install I've ever done. Congrats to IBM.

I'm working through the problems, I'm held up currently by Ken
Harker's Linux on Laptops site being down, and linux-thinkpad's
archive stops in May, and I recall lots of T21 discussions in
recent months. Anyone (Bill?) know if the archive can be brought
up to date or if there's another archive somewhere? Just a big
fat downloadable mailbag would be useful.

regards,
Michael.=20
