[ltp] Arrgghhh. Sound Problems Now...

Well, after all the problems I had with RedHat 7.1 on my TP23,
I said "f*ck it" and blew it all away and installed the brand
new Mandrake Linux 8.1.

Guess what? The stock Mandrake setup recognized the audio card
and ethernet card and set them up fine, although strangely
enough it used the i810 driver for the sound card. It also
picked the e100 driver for the ethernet, and it worked fine,
but I tried using the eepro100 driver instead and it works too!

I installed the 4.1 - compatible version of S3 Graphics' savage
driver, and that works fine too. Everything is working now,
thanks to all of you who tried to assist me!

So, goodbye RedHat. I gave up on RedHat back around the 5.x
timeframe and moved over to Mandrake on my desktop machine.
Dunno whatever possessed me to give RedHat another try, but
after my experience with 7.1 on this T23, I won't be trying
them again. Unfortunately, I purchased it rather than
downloading it, too.

And if you're wondering, yes, I purchased the Mandrake 8.1 too
(at least it's on order), but downloaded the iso files this
morning and burned my own CDs to install on the T23.

Thanks again!

Michael
