Thanks to all for the advice. I had looked at the output as well to
see that it was running at 1024x768, which was rather disappointing. I
did try to plug in the numbers directly from my previous, older
version of XF86Config, with no luck. When I increase the hsync limit
from 60 to 65, which was its value under XF Version 3.x, I get the
full 1280x1024 used, but I get a black bar across the left 2/3 of the
screen. Obviously not right either :)

So, yes, I am looking for a working XF86Config-4 from a 770x user :) I
just thought that this was the most likely place to ask...

So, is there anyone out there who has XFree86 version 4.x working and
would be willing to share their config file??? Please??!!??
