[ltp] sound chipset, and ALSA

I've just got hold of a thinkpad 600 and have installed gentoo linux on it.

Things are going well so far, but I've hit a couple of stumbling blocks.
 Namely power management and audio.

After reading around (and checking in the windows partition) it appears
that the 600 has a crystal labs 4232 or 4236 chipset, however when I try
to load the driver I get the following errors:

  /lib/modules/2.4.19-r1/misc/snd-card-cs4236.o: init_module: No such device
Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters,
including invalid IO or IRQ parameters
  /lib/modules/2.4.19-r1/misc/snd-card-cs4236.o: insmod
/lib/modules/2.4.19-r1/misc/snd-card-cs4236.o failed
  /lib/modules/2.4.19-r1/misc/snd-card-cs4236.o: insmod sound failed

As for the power management problem, when I try to compile apmd I get
error messages in one of the modules. Should I be using tpctl instead
of apmd?

Cheers
Alister
