Greetings all TP owners,

I just go myself a Thinkpad R30.
I planned (or rather I plan) to install Mandrake Linux 8.2 on this
machine. After I had read something about some machines got their EPROMS
damaged when using some kernelconfigs (I2C I think) I decided to ask if
the R30 model EPROM (or FLASH) can be damaged in the same way.

Secondly, the first 'hidden' partition which contains the
backupinstallation procedures might be interesting to have access to in
the future. Is that partition able to boot just by adding it to LILO ? Or
is the original MBR necessary to be able to restore the original setup of
the machine?
