[ltp] Serial comm between two machines

Hi guys,

I'm getting in throuble with with my notebook when I try to connect it
with my Agenda VR3 palmtop throught ppp. I start it with the following
command line:

$> /usr/sbin/pppd /dev/ttyS0 115200 10.1.1.2:10.1.1.3 noauth nodetach
local debug

and it returns:

Couldn't get channel number: Input/output error

and logs:

Aug 13 15:35:19 Mithrandir pppd[2645]: pppd 2.4.1 started by root, uid 0
Aug 13 15:35:20 Mithrandir pppd[2645]: Exit.

My notebook is a T22 and I'm running Slackware 8.1.
