You do want a DOS partition.  Otherwise, you can't make the machine
hibernate. :)

Just copy them to the floppy in question.  Just make sure you actually
copy the whole set of tools and not just PS2.EXE, or it won't work. 
There are some .DAT files and a few other things you need that come with
PS2 that you might not have copied to your floppy.  I made the same
mistake the first time I tried to make a PS2 floppy.

The tool WILL fit on a bootable floppy, by the way.

The command you'll likely need to run is "PS2 SERA ENABLE"

If your TP600 is like mine, the serial port will show up in Linux as
/dev/ttyS0.  (I use mine for a digital camera connection.)
