That chip works under Linux with the cs4232 driver.

I'd take the hint. :)

Check using PS2.EXE under DOS what the correct IO, IRQ, and DMA settings
should be.  The usual "problem" is that you might have the dma and dma2
settings backwards.  You might also want to turn OFF (under Easy Setup)
any "quick boot" option.

As a last resort, you can try the soundblaster driver with its default
settings.  This should also work on your machine, though you won't likely
be happy with the quality.
