The PCMCIA is probably conflicting with one of the
built in serial interfaces.

Either disable this interface or put the following line in
your /etc/pcmcia/config.opts:
     exclude irq 3
     exclude irq 5
so that cardmgr won't assign IRQ 3 or 5 to the PCMCIA card.
