Hi all,

On my R31 I have Mandrake 9.0 installed, and yesterday I ran Mandrake update.
After that I opened the hardware tool Harddrake, and there I saw under "unknown" A modem!
It was shown as PCTEL 2304 WT V.92 MDC modem with no modules loaded.
Bus: pci
Bus id: 8086 2486:1014:503
Bus location: 0:1f:6

Lspci and Cat /proc/pci output was the same as posted on this list before.

I downloaded and installed A driver for that, but still the modem did not respond, maybe some irq probs.
After loading modules pctel and ptserial I got the following in /var/log/messages:

kernel: AC97 modem device found: devnum = 8000FE00, devid = 8086/2486
kernel: iobase_0=0xa000, iobase_1=0xa400,irq=11
kernel: PCTel driver version 0.9.5 [5.05c-4.27.215 (09-14-2001)] (MR) (2002-01-31) with MANY_PORTS SHARE_IRQ SERIAL_PCI AUDIO_ROUTING[INTEL] enabled.
kernel: PCTel driver built on [Linux 2.4.19-16mdk i686 unknown "2.4.19-16mdk <132115>"] with gcc-gcc (GCC) 3.2 (Mandrake Linux 9.0 3.2-1mdk).
kernel: ttyS15 at 0xa000 (irq = 11) is a PCTel
kernel: PCI: Found IRQ 11 for device 00:1f.6
kernel: PCI: Sharing IRQ 11 with 00:1f.3
kernel: PCI: Sharing IRQ 11 with 00:1f.5
kernel: PCI: Sharing IRQ 11 with 01:09.0
kernel: PCTel initialization. Country code is 0.

My linux knowlegde is coming to an end at this point, maybe some other R31 users could try the same.
If someone wants more info, just let me know.

TIA

Gerard
