Sounds like you got the 3com modem which is not supported (AFAIK). Did you
check www.linmodems.org ?

Hello,
I am trying to use modem from IBM Thinkpad A21e (with MiniPCI card 3c566B
-hurrican, ethernet and modem combo)
on Suse Linux 7.2
I didn't find any drivers except of ACP winmodem for TP 600 as of
http://www-124.ibm.com/acpmodem/
and
Lucent drivers as of
http://www.pc.ibm.com/qtechinfo/MIGR-4VFTT3.html
Is this modem on 3c566B a Lucent modem ? Is there any other option (if any
?)
Any advice how to set-up this modem connection from Linux appreciated..
