I was reading the modules source, and saw that there was something else
there talking about the /proc directory....

tp600x:~# cat /proc/driver/thinkpad/thinkpad
thinkpad version 3.0 enabled to access modules: smapi superio rtcmosram
thinkpadpm.

going on to look at the tpctl source...
