I have an IBM Thinkpad 600 (not a 600E), and I'm considering turning it into a dual boot machine with Mandrake 8.2 and Windows 98 (already installed).

First problem is the hard drive: it's only 4GB. I need to upgrade to something bigger. How big should I go? 20GB enough? I'm using about 3.2 gigs now.

What are the major 'gotchas' while installing Linux on my Thinkpad? What do I need to write down ahead of time? I am aware of the whole EEPROM danger.

This will be my first Linux installation. I have used other unices before, but never Linux. I am a computer programmer, but I usually try to remain as ignorant of my box as I can.

I'm new to the list so sorry if this query has been asked before.

Thanks in advance,
-Jeff
