Hello all,

I've been running linux on various laptops for quite some time now, but
I've never ran into a problem like this... My serial port just doesnt want
to work. It's set to 0x3F8 base address, and IRQ 4. When I try to use it
under linux, the apps seem happy and all, but its like the connector is
dead or something. No data gets in or out...

I ran some diagnostics on it today, and did a register check, internal
loopback, and an external loopback... The internal lb and register test
came back clean, but all the external loopback tests failed...

Is there some magical thing that has to be done on TP600E's to get
their serial ports to function? The built-in diagnostics also give the
serial port a clean bill of health...

I hope it's just something simple, and not a fried port...

Thanks,
Brad
