How about speed? How do the new (Gnome 2.x and KDE 3.x) versions
compare speed wise with the earlier Gnome 1.4 and KDE 2.x? And how is
overall efficency?

I am thinking of putting this on my old TP 240 with a 300 Mhz
processor. It is tolerable with older versions.
