[ltp] Controlling dvd-drive speed

Hi,

I have a T30 with cdrw/dvd. When watching DVDs, the drive is spinning
with full speed, which is very loud.

I guess hdparm could controll the speed of ide cdrom drives. I use the
ide-scsi so that I can burn cds.

Is there a way to controll the speed of the drive in the scsi mode?
Or switch between scsi mode for cd burning and ide mode for watching dvds
on the fly?

This is the cdrom part of my /etc/modutils/aliases:

# scsi cdrom:
options ide-cd ignore=hdc
alias scd0 sr_mod
pre-install sg modprobe ide-scsi
pre-install sr_mod modprobe ide-scsi
pre-install ide-scsi modprobe ide-cd

Thanks,
Gregor
