Keith,

I have thrown in the towel after mucking with it for
few more hours today. Any other suggestions? I'm not
using a compact flash adapter though. From what I can
see

[root at lambodara usb]# uname -r
2.4.18-26.8.0

[root at lambodara usb]# lsmod | grep -i usb
usb-uhci 26188 0 (unused)
usbcore 77024 1 [hid usb-uhci]

[root at lambodara usb]# mount | grep -i usb
usbdevfs on /proc/bus/usb type usbdevfs (rw)

Here's my G2 hot plugged

[root at lambodara usb]# grep -i usb /var/log/messages |
tail -3
Apr 14 23:03:56 lambodara kernel: hub.c: USB new
device connect on bus1/1, assigned device number 4
Apr 14 23:03:56 lambodara kernel: usb.c: USB device 4
(vend/prod 0x4a9/0x3055) is not claimed by any active
driver.
Apr 14 23:03:59 lambodara /etc/hotplug/usb.agent: ...
no modules for USB product 4a9/3055/1

OK, it is on the bus too...

[root at lambodara usb]# grep ^S devices
S: Product=USB UHCI Root Hub
S: SerialNumber=1c20
S: Manufacturer=Canon Inc.
S: Product=PowerShot G2

Now for the final step with camera still firmly in
playback mode.

[root at lambodara usb]# gphoto2 --list-files
Looking for camera ...

*** Error ***
No response from camera

*** Error ***
Camera unavailable
*** Error (-1: 'Unspecified error') ***

What else am I missing here?

regards,
-ravi
