Try going into BIOS (hold F1 when turning on the machine), and DISable
Quick Boot if it isn't already.  Then, if you still get the above message,
try changing the IO/IRQ/DMA, etc. settings until you get one that DOES
work.  If you want to make this process easier, boot up with a floppy disk
containing IBM's PS2.EXE utility (see IBM's web site), and it'll tell
you and/or let you assign values to these.

My "new" TP 240 was MUCH easier to set up for sound.  I'd forgotten that
there WERE sound chips that Linux distributions could autodetect from
having worked with TP 380s, 600s, and 770s... :)
